Baltimore Center Stage

This comprehensive renovation encompasses a complete transformation of Center Stage, the State theater of Maryland, with total seats of 1,000 over 3 venues.  Located in the historic Mt. Vernon District of Baltimore and encumbered with an historic easement, the project required comprehensive review by the local community and the Maryland Historical Trust.

CBH+A worked closely with Charcoalblue on both acoustics and theater design throughout the complex marrying the extremely technical requirements of theater lighting, rigging, acoustics, seating, site lines, comfort, and flexibility with the overall architecture, structural, mechanical and electrical systems, and current codes.  The final project represents an exciting blend of historic architecture with 21st century technology woven throughout.
