Having outgrown their current space, the Alpha Tau Omega chapter at the University of Virginia hired Design Develop to design an addition that would house a new great room, an updated kitchen, and several new bedrooms. The existing 1890's historic house was also in dire need of a renovation.

The Design Develop Team utilized our Trimble X7 laser scanner to document the existing conditions of the house and was able to identify various areas of concern, such as the differential settling of the front corner of the house and porch. The laser scanner proved to be an incredibly valuable tool and allowed us to notify the client about areas of concerns before construction commenced so that they could plan for and price accordingly. Further exploration in the field confirmed 10ft of bad soil as the cause of what we were witnessing through the scans. This valuable tool is essential for us to provide the client the high standard of service we strive for.
