Day School at Cascadia
The main building form that addresses Cascadia Drive takes it nods from the historic archetype of a traditional schoolhouse. With tall pitch roofs, cupolas, and red clapboard or brick siding, these one room school houses have come to embody the notion of a schoolhouse.
Our goal was to pay homage to this archetype, while creating a modern interpretation with increased daylighting and glazing that provides bright, inviting spaces to learn, explore and create. We’re cladding the main building form in a maroon Hardieplank lap siding, and echoing the steep roof pitch and simple building form that makes the archetype recognizable.
